Lasso Data Trunk™ — Managed Cloud Backup
Your Data. Encrypted. Automated. Protected.
Losing data is not a matter of if — it’s when. Hard drives fail. Ransomware strikes. Files get accidentally deleted. Lasso Data Trunk™ is IT Lasso’s managed cloud backup service built for small businesses, nonprofits, ministries, and professionals who need enterprise-grade protection without the enterprise price tag. We handle the setup, monitoring, and support — including restores. You focus on your work.
How It Works
Lasso Data Trunk™ runs silently in the background on your computer. Every night, your files are automatically encrypted and uploaded to your own private, secure cloud storage bucket hosted on Backblaze B2 — one of the most trusted cloud storage platforms in the industry. Your data is isolated, tamper-proof, and accessible only through IT Lasso.
When you need a file restored — whether it was accidentally deleted, lost to hardware failure, or encrypted by ransomware — contact us and we handle it. No technical knowledge required on your end.
What Protects Your Data
- End-to-end encryption — your files are encrypted before they leave your device
- Object Lock storage — files cannot be modified or deleted once backed up, even by us
- Automated daily backups — runs every night on a schedule customized for your device and workflow, without any action from you
- Version history — previous versions of your files are retained, not just the latest copy
- Dedicated storage bucket — every client gets their own isolated bucket; your data is never commingled with another client’s
- Hosted on Backblaze B2 — enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure with 99.99% durability
What Lasso Data Trunk Covers
Lasso Data Trunk™ protects files and folders stored on your devices — including business documents, financial records, photos, project files, design assets, and any data on your local drives or accessible network drives.
✅ What’s included
- Files and folders on Mac and Windows computers
- Data on accessible network drives and external storage
- Document libraries, project archives, photo libraries, and creative assets
- Any data your business stores locally and depends on
❌ What’s not included
- Cloud-hosted email (Gmail, Outlook 365)

What It Protects You From
- Hardware failure and drive crashes
- Accidental deletion
- Ransomware and cyberattacks
- Device theft or loss
- Fire, flood, and natural disasters
Why Not Just Use Dropbox or OneDrive?
It’s a fair question — and the answer matters.
Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive are sync tools, not backup tools. That distinction is critical when something goes wrong.
When ransomware hits a business using OneDrive or Dropbox, it encrypts your local files — and those encrypted files sync immediately to the cloud, overwriting your good versions. You think you’re protected. You’re not.
Lasso Data Trunk™ uses Object Lock storage, which means your backed-up files cannot be modified, overwritten, or deleted by anyone — including ransomware. Once your data is backed up, it’s protected permanently.
| Sync Tools (Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive) | Lasso Data Trunk™ | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | File access across devices | Data protection and recovery |
| Ransomware protection | ❌ Syncs encrypted files immediately | ✅ Object Lock blocks any modification |
| Accidental deletion | ⚠️ Limited version history | ✅ Full version history retained |
| Coverage | Only files in sync folder | ✅ Entire device |
| Encryption | Provider holds your keys | ✅ Only you hold the key |
| Immutable storage | ❌ Files can be overwritten | ✅ Cannot be tampered with |
| Managed restore | ❌ You’re on your own | ✅ IT Lasso handles it next business day |
| Storage overages | ❌ Automatic surprise charges | ✅ No surprise charges |
| Cost (10 devices) | $125+/mo and climbing | $320/mo flat, fully managed |
Professionally Monitored. Proactively Managed.

This is hands-on managed service backed by 30 years of IT experience.
How Pricing Works
Lasso Data Trunk™ pricing is built around how far back you need to recover files. Every client account includes a flat monthly management fee that covers monitoring, restore support, and account management. Each device you back up is then priced based on how much retention you need.
